Web14 de fev. de 2024 · Dec 14 -- The Energy Act of 2024 authorized the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE or the Department) to establish and carry out, through the Office of Nuclear Energy, a program to support the availability of high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU) for civilian domestic research, development, demonstration, and commercial use. WebHALEU. High-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU) has a U235 assay between 5% and 20% and is required for most U.S. advanced reactors to achieve smaller designs that get more power per unit of volume. HALEU will also optimize their systems for longer life cores, increased efficiencies and better fuel utilization.
